Placed an order for the recently unveiled PS3 Slim yesterday on AMAZON. The price tag for the game console is US$299, or around RM1076.40. The shipping fee on the other hand, cost me another US$80 (RM288). This is still way cheaper than the old generation "fat" PS3 80GB currently sold for RM1599 in Malaysia. Please note that PS3 Slim is not available in Malaysia yet. You might be able to get some Hong Kong version from certain merchants or in the black market but it comes with no warranty and the quality might not be as good.
Since AMAZON doesn't ship any electronics outside the USA, i have to use vPostUSA service. It is a courier service provided by a Singaporean company which is exclusively available only to HSBC and UOB Bank credit cardholders. Since everything will be calculated in US$, i do not know how much exactly HSBC is going to bill my credit card as there are overseas administration fee as well as the VISA exchange rate but i'm pretty sure it won't fall far from my estimate.
So basically vPostUSA will provide me a USA delivery address. AMAZON will ship the item to the address provided in Portland, Oregon (shown below). AMAZON provides free delivery service within USA, so i am taking advantage of this to save on shipping fee and i only need to pay the shipping fee to vPostUSA from USA to Singapore and then Malaysia.
The PS3 Slim is slimmer hence the name "PS3 Slim". It also consumes less power which make it greener.
