HP or DELL ?

I have been thinking of buying a laptop for quite sometime now. At the moment i am considering only two brands, HP Pavillion and DELL. Both are American brands and i have been a user of DELL computer desktop since year 2003.

I bought another computer desktop from DELL in February last year via their website (www.dell.com.my) for RM4200+. It is a 19" LCD screen with 2GB RAM and pre-installed with licensed Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium. I am a satisfied DELL customer so far.

A computer specification is very important for me and i have always preferred to buy a computer directly from the computer maker company itself. However, it is not possible with HP. Well, you can buy from HP online but there aren't many options and all the one listed in their website comes with a pre-configured system. It means you cannot buy a custom configured computer desktop/notebook from HP site.

Since i already have two DELL computers at home now (1x 17" CRT screen Windows XP Home Edition bought back in 2003 and the 19" LCD screen Windows Vista last year), i really would like to try out another brand. I have done some research and HP Pavillion laptop is just so bloody expensive. HP Compaq laptop is way cheaper but i am not considering that. So it looks like i will buy yet another DELL product.

Anyways, below is the full specification of the DELL laptop i intend to buy.

1Borneo Merchants

So far the preliminary list of tenants at 1Borneo looks promising. But i still think it is a shame there will still be no Carrefour, Tesco, Harvey Norman, Best Denki, Isetan etc. Instead we got this stupid Giant Hypermarket that always claim they are the cheap price leader in Malaysia which is bull.

Then we also have HSL Circuit City and SenQ instead of Harvey Norman and Best Denki. Harvey Norman is an electronic store chain from Australia while Best Denki from Japan and both of them provide much better services than HSL Circuit City and SenQ. Harvey Norman and Best Denki also tend to have more LCD/Plasma display at their stores.

Tune Department Store is set to be one of the anchor tenants at 1Borneo. Tune Department Store is partly owned by Tony Fernandes, hence the name Tune Department Store. I am still wondering what kind of clothes are they going to sale. Whether it is going to the Parkson/Isetan/Robissons/Tang kind of clothes or Petaling Street's. Well, we're about to find out real soon.
